Overview of the job

HMP Standford Hill is seeking an experienced Printer and Digital Instructor to manage its specialist prison print workshop.

The job holder will use their print-industry expertise to deliver practical instruction, vocational training and workplace supervision. They will develop prisoners’ technical skills, support progress towards nationally recognised qualifications and improve their employment prospects on release.

Summary

The job holder will manage a specialist workshop that reflects the standards and expectations of a commercial print environment. They will combine production management with vocational training, mentoring and rehabilitation, helping prisoners develop practical skills, professional behaviours and stronger employment prospects on release.

The successful candidate must demonstrate substantial print-production experience and will be responsible for meeting customer specifications, maintaining accurate training and production records, and ensuring consistently high standards of quality, safety, security and professional conduct. Training on prison-specific systems and equipment will be provided where required.

Technical Skills

Experience and qualifications in digital and print presses.

Must hold or be willing to work towards L3 qualification in the print specialism or demonstrate equivalent professional experience.

A recognised print qualification, such as City & Guilds or equivalent.

Experience assessing vocational skills or supporting accredited learning programmes.
