An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen within the North West Probation Service for a Head of Corporate Services. This is a key senior leadership role, providing strategic direction, oversight and assurance across a broad corporate services portfolio in a large, diverse and complex region. The postholder will act as regional lead for key areas including Workforce, Estates and Facilities Management, Risk, Health and Safety, and other corporate services priorities as required.

The Head of Corporate Services will work closely with the Regional Probation Director, senior leaders, PDU Heads and corporate colleagues to ensure effective, consistent and responsive support to operational delivery. The role offers an opportunity to influence regional priorities, strengthen governance and contribute to the continued development of corporate services across the North West.

The successful candidate will provide visible and effective leadership across Corporate Services, supporting the region to deliver its priorities through strong governance, assurance, planning, resource management and partnership working. The role will require strategic thinking, sound judgement, resilience and the ability to work confidently with a wide range of senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Providing strategic leadership and direction for Corporate Services across the North West region.
• Supporting the Regional Probation Director and senior leadership team through effective governance, assurance and performance oversight.
• Leading and coordinating key corporate functions, including Workforce, Estates and Facilities Management, Risk, Health and Safety, and other regional priorities, to support safe, effective and consistent operational delivery.
• Working collaboratively with PDU Heads, regional leads and national colleagues to resolve issues, manage risk and drive improvement.
• Ensuring corporate services are responsive to regional priorities, business planning requirements and emerging operational pressures.
• Promoting a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture across the Corporate Services function.

We are looking for an experienced and credible senior leader who can operate confidently in a complex regional environment. You will bring strong leadership, excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across operational and corporate teams.

You should be able to balance strategic oversight with practical delivery, manage competing priorities and provide clear advice and assurance to senior stakeholders. A collaborative, inclusive and solution-focused approach will be essential, together with the ability to lead through change and support continuous improvement.

This appointment is initially temporary; however, the post may be made permanent in the future, subject to organisational requirements and business need
