Job description
We are seeking a versatile Digital Content Producer to bring digital expertise to the Treasury ministerial team, helping communicate economic policy effectively to the public.
Reporting to the Head of Channels, you will work closely with the Head of Content and production team (videographer, photographer, designer) to create engaging videos, photos and social media content that aligns with HM Treasury's digital strategy. You'll advise on digital best practice, identify creative content opportunities, and use hands-on production skills to deliver high-quality content that meets departmental standards.
You'll be comfortable drafting copy one moment and picking up a camera the next, always grounded in what works digitally. You'll also provide flexible support to the wider digital team during major campaigns and fiscal events.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a direct role in communicating economic policy at the heart of government.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Treasury ministerial team to identify creative content opportunities that explain economic policy in engaging, accessible ways
- Advise ministers and their offices on effective content formats, digital best practice and what resonates with audiences
- Collaborate daily with the videographer, photographer and designer on content production, maintaining quality and consistency
- Shoot simple videos and photos at Treasury events, ministerial visits and policy announcements
- Edit video content and draft social media copy for ministerial and departmental channels
- Work with the Head of Channels to deliver engaging content for HM Treasury's official social media accounts
- Translate complex policy information into clear content grounded in audience insight and what works digitally
- Support the development of creative content formats including graphics, short-form video and multimedia assets
- Ensure all content meets departmental quality standards, aligns with HM Treasury's digital strategy and complies with propriety requirements
- Provide production support to the content team during busy periods, including editing and asset management
- Support the GOV.UK publishing team with document preparation and formatting when needed
- Maintain HM Treasury's digital asset library
- Work flexibly across the digital team, particularly during major campaigns and fiscal events such as Budgets and Spending Reviews
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of digital best practice with evidence of creating effective content across video, photography and social media platforms
- Comfortable picking up a camera and creating visual content, with basic video editing skills or willingness to learn quickly
- Excellent written communication skills with ability to translate complex policy information into clear, engaging digital content
- Confidence to advise senior stakeholders on digital content, providing constructive recommendations grounded in what works for audiences
- Proven ability to work flexibly across different tasks and respond quickly to changing priorities while maintaining professional boundaries
- Meticulous approach to quality control with ability to maintain high standards and ensure content aligns with departmental strategy
- Natural team player who works effectively across the digital team and wider communications function
- Understanding of the political and policy environment, with good judgement about sensitive content and propriety requirements
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in government communications or a similarly regulated environment
- Familiarity with GOV.UK publishing standards and accessibility requirements for online publications
