Job description

We’re Design102, the government creative agency specialising in public sector communication. We help government departments and other public sector organisations connect with audiences, turning complex ideas into clear communications that people understand, trust and act on.

We're looking for a creative writer and experienced editor to help bring the benefits of thoughtful messaging to the public sector. Working at the heart of our strategy team, you'll develop everything from compelling, insight-driven campaign messaging to clear and engaging copy across a wide range of channels. You'll work closely with clients, designers and other creative specialists to turn complex communication challenges into effective, audience-focused products.

Our team brings together designers, strategists, copywriters, animators, videographers, artworkers, web developers and project managers, with a shared commitment to design that makes a difference. Discover what we do best at https://d102.co.uk/work/

Main responsibilities include:

  • meeting with new and existing clients to discuss and develop briefs and determine what level of copy support may be required
  • providing expert advice and hands-on delivery to clients on appropriate tone of voice, copy style and brand positioning
  • helping clients establish a tone of voice that rings true to their organisation or brand building and maintaining strong, long-lasting client relationships
  • writing distinct, multi-platform campaign copy in response to briefs, from social media content calendars and snappy video scripts to compelling blogs and user-focused website content
  • checking text to ensure it is well written, logically structured and in the right style for the intended audience
  • proofreading to correct spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • managing multiple projects at once, allocating time effectively and communicating progress to the client team or directly to clients
  • incorporating client feedback amending content accordingly
  • presenting finalised ideas and concepts to clients, explaining clearly and confidently why the creative work is on brief
  • working with designers and other creative specialists to help articulate their creative ideas
  • working alongside the design team to deliver brand guidelines to clients
  • ensuring we always make a difference in our work and challenging briefs that are not an effective use of public money
  • articulating the strategic element and benefit of our expertise to external clients
  • providing quotes and schedules for the agreed work
  • working both independently and as part of a creative team, as required
