Join a specialist team responsible for supporting compliance, consistency, and high standards across DVSA’s enforcement activities. Working closely with operational colleagues and a wide range of stakeholders, the team provides expert advice, oversight, and assurance to help protect road safety and ensure regulatory requirements are applied fairly and effectively. What they’re looking for

- Experience delivering quality casework and managing investigations, with a strong focus on providing an excellent service and achieving consistent outcomes.

- Knowledge of DVSA roadside enforcement activities, operator regulatory frameworks, and confidence using Microsoft applications and operational systems to support decision-making.

- Have vocational related qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair at level 3 or IMI ATA registration at diagnostic technician level or IRTEC registration at advanced technician level or Engtech registration

- National C.P.C. in Road Operations or City & Guilds Level 2 Tachographs or equivalent

- Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
- Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.
- Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 35 hours per week.
- This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
- The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Your designated workplace will be your contractual place of work. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
- Occasional travel to other offices will be required, which may involve overnight stays.

Job description
Join the Remote Enforcement Office (REO) and play a key role in supporting DVSA’s enforcement strategy across Great Britain. Leading a team of Compliance Support Officers and Examiners, you will drive performance, develop capability, and ensure the delivery of a high-quality, consistent service. Working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, you'll make informed decisions, provide expert guidance, and contribute to road safety and regulatory compliance through effective enforcement and operator oversight.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Working collaboratively with the REO management team, wider business and external stakeholders.
- Engage with all team members to ensure that all staff are working as a team and are engaged with the wider business.
- Execute management responsibilities effectively and in line with DVSA policies and processes; working with, leading and acting as a role model for team members and colleagues.
- Determine and plan the team requirements, including allocating resources and prioritising.
- Review casework and endorse recommendations, ensuring quality and consistency throughout the teams.
- Ensure our people are suitably skilled, review performance and agree bespoke personal development plans for each team member.
- Work with REO teams, internal departments and other stakeholders, to design and implement remote schemes in relation to vehicle, traffic and light vehicle.
- Embrace and contribute to change and innovation, encourage others and support team members.

Stage 1: Sift
At sift, you will be assessed against the following Success Profile elements:
- Experience – you will be asked to provide a CV (unlimited wordcount) and personal statement (1000-word count). Please provide evidence of your Experience of the following: Sound understanding and knowledge of DVSA’s roadside and enforcement activities and the regulatory frameworks for operators.
- Use of Microsoft programs, such as Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Enforcement Management Systems.
- Experience in the management and investigation of operators.
- Ability to provide feedback, guidance and engage professionally with employees and external and internal stakeholders.
Should a large number of applications be received, an initial sift may be conducted using the 250 word lead experience point -Sound understanding and knowledge of DVSA’s roadside and enforcement activities and the regulatory frameworks for operators.
Candidates who pass the initial sift may be progressed to a full sift or progressed straight to assessment/interview.
The sift will take place week commencing 28th September 2026.
Stage 2: Interview
At interview stage, you will be assessed against the following Success Profile elements:
