Job description
As a Tax Risk Officer (TRO) you will play a key role in managing tax compliance for LTT and LDT and supporting taxpayers to pay the right tax at the right time.
You’ll need to be a team player with excellent customer service and decision making skills. You’ll need to be highly motivated, organised, and able to balance a varied workload made up of technical and administrative activities.
Using Our Approach, you will review cases, such as repayment requests, and manage our debt and enquiry processes, applying sound judgment to achieve fair outcomes.
You’ll work closely with internal teams (Helpdesk, Tax Specialists, Finance, Legal, Policy) and external stakeholders such as taxpayers and their agents, providing excellent customer service and explanations of decisions.
To be successful in the role, you’ll be confident in making decisions and explaining how these have been reached within our processes while providing excellent, timely customer service to both internal and external customers. A full training package will be provided for all aspects of the role.
"Being a Tax Risk Officer has allowed me to be in the centre of a growing, vibrant and supportive organisation. The WRA offers opportunities to be involved in exciting projects, outside of the day-to-day role, which help build upon developing skills, whilst also being a key part of the evolving tax system here in Wales. The role of Tax Risk Officer is varied and exciting. The role allows you to build relationships across the Operations teams, as well as throughout the Organisation. The people of the WRA are the heartbeat here, and will make you feel so welcome.”
