Job summary
The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) supports the UK’s prosperity and global market position by promoting stable business conditions through the investigation and prosecution of the most serious and complex fraud, bribery, corruption, and money laundering cases, both nationally and internationally. Our mission is to reduce the harm caused by high-level economic crime and to preserve and enhance the UK’s reputation as a safe place to do business. We achieve this by taking on a selected number of large, complex cases for investigation and, where appropriate, prosecution or other judicially supervised outcomes. We also pursue the recovery of unlawful financial gains. The SFO is unique in that we both investigate and prosecute offenders and have special legal powers to enable us to do this.
The Senior Intelligence Analyst Function is led by the Head of Intelligence Analysis and comprises a team of Senior Intelligence Analysts operating within a flexible model that enables a dynamic response to organisational and wider operational needs. Analysts rotate between roles annually, working collaboratively to support some of the most complex and high-profile economic crime investigations. The team plays a key role in developing operations and delivering the Intelligence Division’s core business, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, shared demand management, and continuous learning.
This role is suited to an experienced Intelligence Analyst who thrives on intellectual challenge, welcomes variety, and is comfortable working independently on investigations and detailed evidential analysis over extended periods. You will manage multiple long and short-term priorities simultaneously and will need to demonstrate strong organisational skills, agility, and a depth of experience in investigating serious and/or economic crime.
Senior Intelligence Analysts are responsible for producing high-quality strategic, tactical, operational, and investigative intelligence products, while supporting the development of sensitive intelligence. The function operates in accordance with the competency frameworks of the College of Policing and the Professional Heads of Intelligence Assessment (PHIA). Intelligence products may be published nationally and can directly influence policy development and senior-level decision-making. The role also requires representing the SFO at joint agency and public-private partnership meetings.
Senior Intelligence Analysts are encouraged to continuously develop their skills by embracing innovative techniques and training opportunities. The SFO actively supports professional development, providing opportunities to enhance expertise, attend national training forums, and take a leadership role within them. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside legal professionals on high-profile economic crime cases and contribute directly to tackling serious criminality.
