Job summary
HM Land Registry is looking for a Lawyer and Business Support Officer to join our Lawyer and Business Support Team (LBST). This is an exciting opportunity to support legal operations at the heart of the organisation, working alongside Land Registration Lawyers, Land Registrars and senior leaders across the Legal Operations Group.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will provide high-quality executive and business support, helping to ensure that operational and strategic priorities are delivered effectively. You'll be a trusted point of contact for senior colleagues, helping to coordinate activities, manage information and support decision-making across a dynamic and professional environment.

Job description
You will act as the Land Registration Lawyers’ contact point for caseworkers and customers for queries on dispute work or cases referred to lawyers, and process objections and disputes in line with HMLR procedures and guidance, seeking lawyer input or referring upwards if necessary. You will provide administrative support to the lawyers in managing cases, such as drafting of letters, collation of data (often from HMLR Service Delivery), serving notices and dealing with electronic correspondence. In addition to this, you will prepare case summaries for the Land Registration Division of the Property Chamber (First-tier Tribunal) for lawyer sign off and manage and process basic small indemnity claims, referring upwards where necessary.
You will provide case management and administrative support to Land Registrars and Land Registration Lawyers, including maintaining and reviewing record logs and databases, liaising with HMLR Casework Teams to provide and obtain relevant documentation, and managing the file library and stand-overs. You will be responsible for supporting the Directorate Support Managers and the Data and Register Integrity Group Leadership Team by undertaking other ad hoc duties as required.
