Job summary
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) is Scotland's prosecution service, working at the heart of the justice system to secure justice for the people of Scotland. As a High Court Noter, you will play a vital role in supporting the prosecution of some of the most serious and complex criminal cases heard within the Scottish courts.
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to work directly within High Court environments across Scotland, supporting Advocate Deputes in the preparation and delivery of trials while contributing to the effective progression of High Court business. No two days are the same, and the role offers a rare insight into the operation of Scotland's criminal justice system at the highest level.

- We are looking for a professional, organised and resilient individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment. You will be comfortable working independently whilst building positive working relationships with colleagues, Advocate Deputes, court staff and other stakeholders to support the effective delivery of High Court business.
- You will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently and sensitively with a wide range of people, adapting your approach to suit different audiences and situations whilst maintaining professionalism, discretion and respect.
- You will have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, enabling you to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and respond effectively to changing circumstances. You will be confident exercising sound judgement, analysing information and providing accurate and timely support in a courtroom environment.
- An understanding of the Scottish criminal justice system, experience working in a court-facing environment, or experience supporting individuals in sensitive or challenging circumstances would be advantageous. However, applications are welcomed from candidates who can demonstrate transferable skills and the potential to succeed in the role.
Job description
Working closely with legal professionals, court staff, witnesses and colleagues across COPFS, you will help ensure the effective progression of High Court cases while playing an important role in supporting the delivery of justice in Scotland.
