Job description

The role and responsibilities

As Head of Policy, you will lead the development and delivery of high-quality regulatory policy and interventions that support The Pensions Regulator’s strategic objectives and help shape the future of pensions. Working in a unique co-leadership model alongside a fellow Head of Policy, you will share accountability for the effectiveness of the policy function, jointly setting direction, aligning priorities and ensuring consistent, high-quality policy delivery across TPR.

While much of the work is delivered in partnership, each Head of Policy will lead on distinct policy areas, providing both breadth and individual ownership within the role. You will work closely together to provide continuity of leadership and decision-making, including covering for one another and the Director of Policy during periods of leave or absence.

Alongside leading a high-performing team, you will support colleagues' development, champion continuous improvement and build strong relationships with government partners, industry stakeholders and colleagues across TPR. Through evidence-based policy making and collaborative leadership, you will help deliver a pensions system that is sustainable, fair and resilient for savers, while supporting TPR’s role in shaping the wider pensions landscape.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Enjoys working collaboratively across teams, government, industry and strategic partners to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Is motivated by delivering policy that has a positive impact on pension savers and the wider pensions system.
  • Brings sound judgement when working through complex challenges and competing priorities.
  • Supports high performance, continuous improvement and learning through effective leadership of others.
  • Builds trusted relationships and communicates clearly to help align people, priorities and outcomes
  • Has worked at a Head of / Deputy Director level within a public sector, regulatory or pensions environment
