GLD is a non-ministerial government department headed by the Treasury Solicitor, our Permanent Secretary, and employs nearly 4000 people, including nearly 3000 legal professionals. - Security Clearance Level
- All GLD employees must hold BPSS. If successful for this post you must hold or be willing to obtain SC level clearance for this role. You can start this position while obtaining this clearance level, however continued appointment will be conditional upon obtaining the required security clearance. More information can be found about the vetting and clearance levels before completing your application.
- Sponsorship and Visas
- Visa sponsorship will not be given to candidates except where they are existing civil servants employed by GLD, who meet the HO/UKVI requirements for sponsorship. If you are an existing civil servant employed by GLD who requires sponsorship, you should confirm your eligibility for sponsorship for this role prior to application. Individuals should seek Home Office guidance on how new positions with the organisation impact on changes to sponsorship eligibility.
- Candidates with Limited Leave to Remain can apply but must have at least 12 months remaining on an existing visa which allows them to work for GLD when employment commences. About the Digital, Data & Cyber Team
The Digital, Data and Cyber Team is transforming the way GLD works through modern technology, data and digital services.

As part of the wider Government Digital and Data profession, we play a key role in transforming how government operates, enabling better outcomes for colleagues, stakeholders and the public we serve.
The Role
This is an exciting and continually evolving role that offers a wide range of learning and development opportunities. You'll join a friendly and supportive team within the Digital, Data and Cyber Directorate, helping colleagues across the Government Legal Department make the most of digital tools, systems and technologies.
As a Digital Trainer, you will play an important role in developing and delivering engaging learning solutions, working closely with colleagues across the business to continuously improve training and learning resources that build digital confidence and capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging training sessions to colleagues across GLD, both virtually and in person.
- Support the adoption of new systems, technologies and digital initiatives by providing effective training and change support. For example, supporting the rollout and adoption of GLD's new Case Management System.
- Work closely with the Digital Training Operations Manager to ensure the training curriculum remains accurate, relevant and fit for purpose.
- Support the administration of the training function, including responding to training requests, scheduling events, updating the intranet, managing course bookings and maintaining attendance records.
- Maintain and develop knowledge of digital technologies, particularly Microsoft 365, and proactively support colleagues through system updates, enhancements and new ways of working.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, using feedback and training data to continually evaluate and improve the quality and effectiveness of learning solutions
- Assist with testing and evaluating new technologies and digital services to understand user impact and identify learning requirements.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of our multimedia learning offering. This will involve using tools such as Camtasia for video creation
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to understand learning needs and recommend suitable learning solutions.
- Design, develop and maintain a range of learning materials, guidance and support resources to meet evolving business requirements.

Selection process

Selection Process
After the closing date, the appointing panel shall assess candidates’ suitability for the role based on evidence provided in their application against the key skills & experience and technical professional skills outlined in the person specification.
Staged Sift
If there are a large number of applications the panel will conduct a staged sift. The initial sift will be on CV alone. Candidates assessed as demonstrating the required experience in their CV will progress to the second stage of the two-stage sift where their Personal Statement will be assessed.
Candidates assessed as not demonstrating the required key skills & experience in their CV will not progress to have their Personal Statement assessed; they will be deemed as unsuccessful in the first stage of the two-stage sift.
In the eventuality that there are a high number of applicants successful at sift, GLD may operate a longlist, whereby applicants who have been shortlisted and met the minimum pass mark but are not selected for interview will have their application placed on hold. After the initial interview round candidates on the longlist may be offered an interview, should there still be posts available.
Step 3: Interview
If you are invited to interview, you will be assessed on your performance in the criteria listed in the Person Specification and strength-based questions.

Candidates will be required to deliver a 5-minute presentation on the day of interview on how they would deliver an engaging online training session using Microsoft Teams. The brief will be issued in advance and will assess against Key Skills & Experience.
