Job description

The role sits within the User Centered Design (UCD) team - a multi-skilled team made up of content designers, user researchers, an interaction designer, and a service designer who work across the WRA. You will be working alongside all the UCD professions and will closely collaborate with our other Content Designer.

This is an exciting time to be in the WRA as we are designing end-to-end services for the registration of visitor accommodation providers and for the same users to file and pay Visitor Levy in Wales. You will play an important role supporting service teams with the development and design of these services.

The role has two core elements:

1) Corporate content creation and management which includes:

  • using Drupal content management system to publish corporate documents such as annual report, corporate plan, and equality report
  • supporting all WRA services with planning, creating and publishing guidance content bilingually
  • working with content authors (e.g. policy) to design content in Welsh and English to the same high standard in both languages
  • making sure all WRA bilingual content follows the GOV.WALES style guide , GOV.WALES and meets Plain English and Cymraeg Clir requirements
  • ensuring accuracy in publishing all digital content – in Welsh and English – on GOV.WALES to ensure the user experience is equal in both languages

2) National Registration Service team which includes:

  • evaluating user feedback in Welsh and English and designing changes to the service content in both languages
  • working with interaction designers to create or improve service flows
  • designing the service guidance pages to a high standard in both Welsh and English

Collaborating with our Welsh Language Manager and external translation supplier to develop Welsh and English content in parallel, ensuring Welsh is considered from the outset

By actively improving the digital content of the WRA website you’ll use your design skills to draft and edit content to help users complete their goal.

And you’ll bring skills and experience in:

  • explaining content decisions
  • working collaboratively
  • working independently
  • independently identifying user issues and needs
  • content administration and publishing processes
  • content editing and writing skills to good practice standards
  • ability to content design effectively in both Welsh and English

“We're looking for someone who brings excellent content and Welsh language skills, plus new ways of thinking, to our team. We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds, and this role gives you real scope to shape what we do while developing your own career”.

Neil Butt, Head of User Centered Design
