Job summary

We are entering an exciting new phase, working through a regional and national operating model that will deliver homes, unlock regeneration and create places that thrive. To support this, the agency is adapting its operating model, we have established 5 regions alongside the continuation of national activity. We are evolving as a newly formed Regional Directorate and are embracing change with positivity.

  • You’ll have extensive demonstrable experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver our objectives. For us, your leadership behaviours are as important as your experience as you’ll embed the values and behaviours in daily work, contributing to a positive and inclusive culture.
  • You’ll be contributing to the Agency’s mission through place-based working with partners and stakeholders, you will therefore have experience developing designing and implementing strategies to drive delivery of development and urban growth and have exceptional technical skills to align public and private sector interests in a project. You’ll also have senior level experience in housing policy or development, property development, town planning, or economic development sectors, which will equip you to be successful in this role.
  • Delivering on a mission as bold as ours isn’t always easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level, and your discussions will always be shaped by a good understanding of the local requirements and operational impact of what we do as the role guides a team to deliver and maximise housing growth.

Job description

We have an ambitious agenda to deliver and we work at pace. The roles are central to the Agency’s mission, and we are key in supporting the delivery of the devolution agenda for the government and new Prime Minister.

The Assistant Director - Regional plays a central role in driving housing and economic growth, building propositions for innovative funding and delivery models, leading teams providing technical advice that draws on Homes England’s and the National Housing Bank’s range of expertise, and holding key relationship accountabilities with senior local partners. You will lead Homes England's mission, through its place-based approach to delivering shared objectives with local leaders and senior stakeholders; across mayoral combined authorities and core cities. You will act as part of the front door to the agency for partners in these markets. We want you to lead and enable housing growth by unlocking land and enabling investment that encourages the delivery of housing across a large geographical area that would not otherwise happen. You’ll help to shape some of the organisation's largest and most complex potential projects to unlock and accelerate the delivery of strategic projects. Working with key stakeholders and professional multi-disciplinary teams you will have the opportunity to help create thriving communities to be proud of.

This Assistant – Regional Director will be based in the North West region so you will need to ensure that you are embedded in one of our regional offices in Liverpool or Manchester. Understandably, you’ll need to be on sites frequently, do be expected to regularly travel in this role.
