Analyst

We’re looking for an Analyst to help us make sure that the heat networks that heat and provide hot water to our buildings deliver good outcomes for energy consumers.

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers – especially vulnerable people.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to join our heat networks pricing team after Ofgem became the Heat Network regulator in January this year. Heat Networks provide heating, cooling, or hot water to buildings and account for around 3% of heat demand across the UK.

With our fair pricing guidance now released, you’ll have the chance to work with a wide variety of colleagues and stakeholders on an array of engaging and vital projects to deliver pricing models and other initiatives that will positively impact consumers.

You’ll be enabled to further develop your analytical skillset, combining quantitative and qualitative analysis with policy and stakeholder engagement. On top of this, you’ll gain valuable experience of how evidence is used to shape regulation whilst enhancing your knowledge of an important part of the energy system.

We’re looking for someone with strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills and experience working with large datasets producing robust, high-quality insights. You’ll be an excellent written and verbal communicator, able to explain complex information clearly to different audiences, and confident working with diverse stakeholders. The ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects will also be essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engaging in publication activities, including drafting consultations and analysing responses
• Analysing large datasets to conduct regular monitoring and develop reports that provide actionable insights for senior leaders
• Contributing to the development of price benchmarking models to help compare prices across heat networks
• Working with internal and external stakeholders to support the development of pricing policy
• Communicating information to stakeholders in a clear manner, including technical information to a non-expert audience
